Rockingham County’s 2016 New Year's Resolution: We resolve to further develop Innovation Village at Rockingham (IV@R - a 365-acre, Class A research and technology park) and fully leverage the relationship with existing tenant SRI International to attract new businesses to the Park and develop the County's growing agricultural bio opportunities.

October Update & Focus:  Rockingham County kicked off the year working with local academic and private sector partners to form a strategic consortium around new development opportunities at Innovation Village at Rockingham (IV@R), a 365-acre, Class A research and technology park.  The group is working together to devise strategies to stimulate the development of new building product and to leverage the existing relationship with SRI International.

Working with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the County has also applied for a Virginia Business Ready Sites Program Site Development Grant.  If awarded, grant monies will be invested in engineering to select and prepare a pad ready site at IV@R.  In conjunction with this activity, a proposal has been submitted to Virginia Governor McAuliffe to request additional funding, through the Go Virginia Initiative, to help offset the construction costs of a planned new 40,000 square foot Class-A building.  Comprised of meeting space, a common lobby with coffee shop, classrooms and individual leasable office suites, the new building will be utilized by consortium members, SRI International, and other public and private sector stakeholders.
