Shenandoah County’s 2016 New Year's Resolution: We resolve to leverage our strategic location along the I-81 Corridor to market and fill the Mount Jackson Industrial Park and to develop other designated sites for growth.

October Update & Focus:  Shenandoah County worked with the Town of Mount Jackson and the private property owner of the Turkey Knob Industrial Site to submit an application for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) new Virginia Business Ready Sites Program. Thanks to these efforts, a $5,000 grant has been awarded and will be used to conduct engineering services for tiered site characterization on this property, increasing its marketability. This additional step in the development process will enable the site to be marketed for industrial or commercial use to contribute to regional economic development efforts.

In a joint partnership with the Shenandoah County Public Schools and Howell Metal, Shenandoah County continues to work through the Business and Education Roundtable to offer instruction in Design and Engineering Concepts at Howell Metal. This program provides students with hands-on experience from courses learned in traditional classrooms and prepares them for success in an ever-changing economy while exploring career pathways.

Shenandoah County continues to work with the Town of Mount Jackson and the Town of Strasburg in joint efforts to promote the Mount Jackson Industrial Park and North Shenandoah Business and Industrial Park.
